The
podocarpus shrubs, podocarpus maki are great shrubs or hedges for privacy; they
will act as a privacy wall and block the view with an upscale evergreen look.
Podocarpus is a very high-end hedge and can be found in Coral Gables hedges as
well as Palm Beach county hedges. Their spacing is close to each other in order
to create the barrier you are looking for, the podocarpus maki or podocarpus
macrophyllus or Japanese yew are white fly resistant. Making them a great
alternative to the ficus and many other pest infected hedges, being disease
free, pest free and white fly resistant has made the podocarpus privacy hedge
the best one around. The spacing on these must
be close in order to obtain the privacy desired so for the 7 gallon
podocarpus a foot apart is recommended, for the 15 gallon podocarpus 2 feet
apart is recommended and for the 25 gallon podocapurs 3 feet apart is
recommended. We also have the smaller 3 gallon podocarpus that should be
planted half a foot apart from each other. The trimming and watering are very
important for a perfect look and your podocarpus hedges should be trimmed twice
a year every six months. Look for the soil to not be wet before watering again
in the beginning and you will have a gorgeous podocarpus maki hedge.
